On 19 June 2007 His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, issued Emiri Decree No. 37, setting forth the creation of one of the world's largest greenfield port developments. Strategically located south of Doha, the QAR 27 Billion (USD 7.4 Billion) megaproject, which includes a new port, a new base for the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces and the Qatar Economic Zone 3, will span a 26.5 square kilometer area.
1 December 2016 marked the start of full operations at Hamad Port. An opening reception was attended by the Prime Minister and Interior Minister HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Cabinet Ministers, NPP Steering Committee members and NPP Management, to witness the arrival of the Container Vessel MSC Esthi.
(14 Jun 2017) Qatar's port has begun receiving ships through a newly opened sea route. The Gulf nation began shipping and receiving cargo through Oman to bypass other Gulf countries that have cut off sea routes to Qatar. Cargo ships have started to arrive in Doha's Hamad Port via Sohar Port in Oman. Captain Abdul Aziz al Yafei, Director of Hamad Port, said there are plans for seven trips a week between the two ports. Typically, cargo for Qatar stops at Dubai's massive deep-water Jebel Ali Port, or in the Emirati capital of Abu Dhabi, then gets put on smaller boats heading to Doha. This presentation video shows the Concept Landscape Design for both Access Roads for the new Hamad Port (New Port Project) located in Musaeed - Doha (Qatar). The landscape design is related to the Central Access Road (CAR) as well as the Northern Access Road (NAR) towards the new Naval Base. The video is showing our landscape design concept, based on visualizing the "CARGO PORT", bringing "seas", "waves", "cargo" and "ships" alive through the landscape for the approaching/leaving visitors at the new Port.
